Oishee pleaded before a Dhaka court to retract her confession claiming that police had tortured and forced her to give that statement.

She submitted the application to the court of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Erfan Ullah on Thursday to retract her statement given under the Section 164 of the Penal Code.

The Magistrate, however, rejected her bail plea for which she was presented before the court at noon.

Lawyers Mahbub Hasan Rana and ATM Asaduzzaman produced her before the court.

The judge rejected the bail plea after the hearing and ordered to record her plea seeking withdrawal of the confessional statement.

Rana told bdnews24.com: “Oishee claimed that she was forced to confess killing her parents by threatening to eliminate her during remand. Male police members had also beaten her.”

The daughter of slain SB Inspector had given her confessional statement on Aug 24 before Metropolitan Magistrate Anwar Sadat at his chamber after being grilled in police custody for five days.

Defence lawyers had alleged that Oishee was ‘pressurised’ and ‘enticed’ to issue the statement. But police claimed that she had made the confession voluntarily.

Police official Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna were found murdered at their Chamelibagh apartment in the capital on Aug 16. The couple lived there with their daughter Oishee, son Oihee Rahman and domestic help Khadiza Khatun Sumi.

Police suspected Oishee’s involvement in the crime as she was nowhere to be found before Aug 17, the day she surrendered at the Paltan Police Station. Police later detained Sumi and Oishee’s friend Mizanur Rahman Rony.

Both Oishee and Sumi were sent to Gazipur ‘Kishori Unnayan Kendra’ – a juvenile correction home – after they issued the confessional statements. But Oishee was transferred to the Dhaka Central Jail following a court order on Aug 31.
