Communications Minister Obaidul Quader is resigning by Sunday to initiate the formation of an all-party, polls-time Cabinet.
“I will submit my resignation letter to the Prime Minister by Sunday,” he said on Thursday.
The minister made this disclosure at a function at the Nagar Bhaban.
He said the ceremony might well be his last programme as a minister.
Earlier in the day, Home Minister MK Alamgir told reporters that all Cabinet members would soon hand in their resignations to the Prime Minister.
The matter had already been decided, he said.
The Communications Minister on Tuesday had said that ministers would resign within a week and the election-time dispensation would be ready by the end of the third week of November or beginning of the fourth.
On whether the ministers would attend office after putting in their papers, Quader said there was no problem in carrying on till the President accepted the resignations.
Quader said the resignation letters of other than those who will be in the all-party government would go to the President.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina proposed an all-party government in her address to the nation last month.
But BNP chief Khaleda Zia rejected the proposal, suggesting, instead, a poll-time government comprising the advisers to former caretaker governments.
