No online appointment for Indian visas from Feb 1

The Indian authorities is set to introduce a revised visa procedure, waiving the need to get an online “appointment date” for 10 categories of Indian visas, except Tourist (T) visas, from February 1.

According to a press release of Indian High Commission in Dhaka, the Indian Visa Application Centres (IVAC) will accept all categories (10) of visas except tourists’ visas on a “walk-in basis” from February 1.

The press note read: “With effect from Sunday, 1st February 2015, applications for all categories of Indian visas, except Tourist (T) visas, will be accepted on a walk in basis without an online “Appointment Date” at Indian Visa Application Centres (IVACs), located at Gulshan, Motijheel and Dhanmondi in Dhaka and IVAC, Khulna.”

“The categories are– Business, Medical, Medical Attendant, Students, Research, Journalists, Conference, Employment, Transit and Artists, Sportspersons, Spouses of Indian Nationals, Spouses of Business Persons, Private Sector ITEC Trainees, Family members of Persons attending Government of India Sponsored Training, Foreign Nationals.”

“For tourist visas (T Visas), existing procedures as described on http://www.ivacbd.com for submission of visa applications will continue to remain valid. Tourist visa applicants will continue to require to obtain an online Appointment Date for submission of their applications,” added the press release.

The IVAC centres in Chittagong and Rajshahi have already implemented this decision few months ago, said an official of the IVAC.
