New Year to be wonderful for all: PM

She greets all Bangalis on Pahela Baishakh

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday extended her heartiest greetings to the people of the country and the Bangalis living both at home and abroad on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh 1421, expressing her hope that the New Year will be wonderful for all.

 

“I’m extending my heartiest greetings for the Bangla New Year to the people of the country and the Bangalis living both at home and in abroad… Hope, their lives will further flourish and be successful with the fresh New Year spirit,” she said.

 

Hasina also hoped that this Bangla New Year would usher in a new journey for the Bangali nation removing all the odds and rubbishes of the past year.

 

The Prime Minister made the remarks when the leaders and workers of the AL associate bodies and people from all strata exchanged greetings with her marking the Pahela Baishakh at her official residence Ganobhaban in the afternoon.

 

Earlier, the AL chief exchanged greetings of the Bangla New Year with her central working committee members also at the Ganobhaban.

 

Hasina, wearing an off-white and maroon couloured saree welcomed the guests at the banquet hall of the Ganobhaban and exchanged the New Year greetings with them.

 

“The Bangla New Year will bring joy for the whole of Bengali nation alongside creating scopes for a better life. I wish their lives would be nice and successful,” she added.

 

Hasina noted that this time the Bangla New Year has been celebrated across the country with due fervour as the enthusiasm for it is increasing day by day. “People across the country have spontaneously celebrated this new year.”

 

The Prime Minister said from the very morning today she enquired about the New Year celebrations and functions throughout the country so that all could join these functions safely and their desires are fulfilled.

 

“All the functions over the Bengali New Year were observed in a very nice fashion and the country’s people, irrespective of their class, creed and age, have become part of the New Year celebrations,” she added.

 

Later, the guests were served with traditional fruits, locally-made cakes and sweetmeats.

 

Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, AL presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, AL Leader Abul Hasnat Abdullah, Advocate Sahara Khatun, PM’s Political Adviser HT Imam, AL Advisory Council member Yusuf Hossain Humayun, FBCCI president Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed, AL joint general secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Dr Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, AL organising secretary Ahmad Hossain, AL leaders Habibur Rahman Siraj, Dr Hasan Mahmud, Faridunnahar Laily and PM’s Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil were, among others, present on the occasion.
