The newly-appointed high commissioner of United Kingdom in Dhaka, Alison Blake, called on Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday.
The meeting, held at Khaleda’s Gulshan office in the city, started at 5:30pm and lasted for an hour.
After the meeting, BNP chairperson’s advisory council member Sabih Uddin Ahmed told reporters that it was a courtesy call of the newly-appointed British high commissioner with Khaleda.
It was simply an introductory meeting, Sabih Uddin said.
He repeated the same words when journalists asked if the latest political situation and election issues came into the discussion.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP chairperson’s another advisory council member Reaz Rahman were also present at the meeting.
