Nadi confesses to brutalising Aduri

Nourin Jahan Nadi, arrested on charge of brutalising her minor domestic help in the city, in a statement confessed to his crime before a Dhaka court on Tuesday.

 

Metropolitan Magistrate M Erfan Ullah recorded the statement of Nadi following a petition filed by the investigation officer of the case.

 

Nadi, wife of Saiful Islam Masud residing in Sultana Palace at 29/1 Sagufta Bari Kalyan Samity in Mirpur Section-12 under Pallabi Police Station, was arrested in the early hours of September 26 on charge of torturing her domestic help Aduri.

 

A patrol team of Cantonment Police Station rescued the domestic help from near a dustbin in DOHS Baridhara at about 5:30am on September 23.

 

Aduri had told police that she was repeatedly tortured at her workplace by Nadi.

 

In her statement, Nadi said: “I used to torture Anika (Aduri) with whatever I found within my reach when she failed to do her work properly. I had tortured her with iron, spud and blade.”

 

After recording the statement, the magistrate sent Nadi along with her eight-month-old daughter Taslima to jail.

 

Nadi’s mother Ishrat Jahan and her lawyer Robiul Islam Robi were present in the court.

 

Earlier, a Dhaka court placed Nadi on a three-day remand following which she was produced before the court today (Tuesday).

 

However, Nadi’s husband Saiful Islam has remained absconding since the incident came to light.
