But the ceiling for councillor candidates is about Tk 6, according to spending limits set by the Election Commission.
The EC’s spokesperson SM Asaduzzaman said the limit had been set according to number of voters.
Dhaka North and South, and Chittagong city corporations will go to election on Apr 28. The last date for submitting nominations is Mar 29.
Asaduzzaman said the spending limit for mayoral candidates of Dhaka North City Corporation was Tk 5 million while the amount was Tk 3 million for Dhaka South City Corporation and Chittagong City Corporation.
There is scope for spending Tk 2.13 per voter in Dhaka North which has 23,49,313 voters.
But the amount is lower in Dhaka South at Tk 1.6 for 18,70,363 voters and Tk 1.65 in Chittagong for 18,22,892 voters.
Councillor aspirants can spend Tk 100,000 on 15,000 voters and Tk 600,000 on 50,000 voters.
The amount is to include all electoral campaigns costs.
Candidates will have to spend the amount through agents and submit their expenditure to the EC within 30 days of the publication of results.
Their candidature will be scrapped if any anomaly is found.
The last election to undivided Dhaka City Corporation was held in 2002 while Chittagong polls took place in 2010.
