Killing of Tarek, other Rab’s stage-managed drama: Suranjit

Terming the killing of two people, including HM Zahid Siddique alias Tarek, an alleged killer of Jubo League leader Riazul Haque Khan Milky, in Wednesday’s crossfire ‘stage-managed’ drama of Rab, minister without portfolio Suranjit Sengupta on Thursday said Awami League doesn’t support any extrajudicial killing.

“The drama staged by Rab claimed the lives of two people yesterday (Wednesday),” he said while addressing a discussion organised by Nouka Samarthak Ghosthi at the Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh in the city.

Two people, including HM Zahid Siddique alias Tarek, were killed in a ‘shootout’ with members of Rapid Action Battalion in the city’s Khilkhet area on Wednesday night.

Suranjit said with the national election nearing, the opposition will spread propaganda against Awami League cashing in on the extrajudicial killings.

He also said those who lost their lives in Rab’s crossfire had the right to get justice.

The veteran ruling party leader said the killing of Jubo League leader Milky by his party colleagues will incite people’s hatred towards the ruling party while rally support for BNP.

Milky, 43, organising secretary of the Dhaka city (south) unit of Jubo League, was shot dead allegedly by Tarek and another party men in the capital’s Gulshan area on Tuesday.

Tarek was seen on the closed-circuit camera at the entrance of Shoppers World at Gulshan shooting Riazul Haque Khan Milky dead.

Awami League organising secretary Ahmed Hossain, among others, addressed the discussion held with Bangabandhu Sangskritk Jote leader Fatema Jaman Sathi in the chair.
