Jamaat shouldn’t be allowed to do politics: Dipu

She seeks votes for boat

Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Tuesday said Jamaat-Shibir should not be allowed to do politics in the country and the Islamist party should be banned to fulfill people’s demand.

The Foreign Minister made the remark while talking to journalists at Algi Bazar in Haimchar upazila of the district.

She, however, said there is no pressure from foreign countries on the present government over the issue.

Dipu Moni sought votes for ‘boat’, the election symbol of ruling Awami League, in the coming national election to again form the government under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the continuation of development activities.

“We, who are in politics, might have confusions. Putting behind all the confusions, we want to see Sheikh Hasina as prime minister again by ensuring win for the boat,” she said while interacting with people at various places in the upazila.

Dipu Moni hoped Sheikh Hasina will again become Prime Minister and the pace of development in the country will continue. “No evil-design of those who want to take the country backwards will succeed.”

In the afternoon, she addressed a women’s rally, and sought their support in the next parliamentary elections to elect her and help the Awami League form the government again. “Elect me to ensure continuation of all development activities here,” she said.

Local AL leaders also spoke at the rally held with Haimchar Upazila AL president Motaleb Jomaddar in the chair.

Earlier, on Monday evening, Dipu Moni exchanged views with physicians, lawyers, and teachers of non-government schools, colleges and madrasahs at the Chandpur Circuit House.
