The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunals has found prima facie case of the 1971 war crimes against Sayed M Hasan, 65, of village Machhihata in Brahmanbaria who had carried out operation as a  Razakar commander of Tarail thana in Kishoreganj.

ASP Hari Debnath, the designated investigator, disclosed the findings of his inquiry at a press briefing at the ICT’s investigation agency office in Dhanmondi of the capital.

After over a year’s investigation, the IO said that he found prima facie case of Hasan’s involvement in six counts of crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War, including killing, genocide, arson, loot, torture and kidnapping, in Tarail thana of Kishoreganj. “Hasan was well known as OC of Razakar or Daroga of Razakar in 1971,” he said.

The IO has selected 39 prosecution witnesses to prove the charges made against Hasan.

Investigation agency coordinator M Abdul Hannan and co-coordinator Sanaul Huq were present at the press briefing.

The coordinator said war crimes-suspect Hasan was also a member of Peace Committee (Pakistan army collaborator) in Kishoreganj while his father was its chairman.

Co-coordinator M Sanaul Huq said that Hasan remained absconding soon after the investigation against him started last year.

Earlier, on April 3 this year, allowing an application submitted by the IO through the prosecution, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued warrant for war crimes-suspect Hasan’s arrest in connection with the case.
