Hamid wants Hasina, Manmohan to lay Rampal plant’s foundation stone

Saran meets Hamid

President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday said Bangladesh wants the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh to lay the foundation of 1320-MW Bangladesh-India joint venture coal-fired power plant project at Rampal, Bagherhat.

 

He also said Bangladesh wants joint inauguration of Bheramara-Bahrampur 400-KV transmission line and 500-MW HVDC substation as the two projects will be ready for commissioning in the last week of September next.

 

The President said this when Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran met him at Bangabhaban.

 

During the meeting, President Hamid said Bangladesh attaches the topmost importance to its relations with India and is fully committed to deepening it.

 

Hamid expressed satisfaction at the intense engagement at various levels between the two countries for resolution of various issues and carrying forward an identical agenda for mutual benefits.

 

Pankaj Saran apprised the President that the work on integrated checkpost at Bangladesh-India Tripura border is at the last stage.

 

Secretaries concerned of the President Office were present.
