Govt subservient to particular country: BNP

BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday termed the current regime subservient to a particular country, saying it has no right to represent the people of independent Bangladesh.

“This regime is in office by garbing power using force. This subservient regime has no right to represent the people of this independent country. It’s representing another country not the people of its own country,” he said.

Rizvi brought the allegation while addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club arranged by Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the youth wing of BNP.

The BNP leader threatened that they will oust the government through a strong movement to save the country, its people and independence.

“There has been no recess in our movement…we’re still on the movement. We’ll be able to present the future generation a beautiful independent country if we can strongly stand against the brutal repressive acts and misdeeds of the government,” he observed.

Rizvi was critical of the law enforcers for what he said their unruly acts. “The law enforcers now don’t maintain discipline and abide by laws. They’ve turned into a force of Awami League. They’re now brutally killing the country’s people.”

The BNP leader who recently got freed from jail said he thinks there is no difference between staying in jail or outside it as the government is repressing the opposition leaders and activists every where.

“Mental and physical tortures have to endure in jail. But opposition leaders and activists are not safe outside jail either as they have to fall victims to forced disappearances, killing, crossfire apart from various torture and harassment. So, sometimes I think jail is a safer place,” Rizvi stated.
