Govt hiding terrorists in the name of crackdown: BNP

Rizvi

The BNP has alleged that the government is hiding the terrorists and oppressing opponents in the name of a countrywide combing operation.

“Sheikh Hasina hates democracy and nurtures militants across the country to hang onto power. The crackdown is just a smokescreen to hide the real terrorists,” said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Rizvi was speaking at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office on Wednesday.

He said over 2,500 leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies have been arrested during the ongoing crackdown.

“Those carried the recent killing in the country are out of touch. Government just arresting the oppositions,” Rizvi added.

“Thousands of people have been arrested and most of them are innocent.”

“They are going through an inhuman life in jails as those are packed with more inmates beyond their capacity to hold,” he added.
