The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission announced fresh hike of gas prices by 22 per cent on an average across the board.
The commission made the announcement at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.
Prices of household connections will be increased to Tk 750 for single burner and Tk 800 for double burners from March 5. The price would be against increased to Tk 900 for single burners and Tk 950 for double burners from June 1.
The commission last time raised the prices of natural gas by 26.29 per cent on an average at consumer level with effect from September 1, 2015.
In August 2016, the commission held a series of public hearing on the proposals of natural gas utilities for raising the prices again by 94 per cent on an average.
