The ICT-1 headed by its new chairman Justice Justice Enayetur Rahim gave the order on Wednesday in response to a petition by Nizami’s defence lawyers.

It has fixed Mar 10 for fresh arguments against the Jamaat chief after his lawyer Tajul Islam asked for it for the sake of ‘justice’.

This is the first day for Justice Rahim, who is a High Court judge, at the International Crimes Tribunal.

He was appointed to head the ICT-1 on Sunday.

The court’s work had stopped after its former Chairman, Justice ATM Fazle Kabir, retired on Dec 31 last year.

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 was set up in 2010 to try crimes against humanity committed during 1971 Liberation War.

It is currently dealing with five cases including the one of Nizami.

Nizami is already facing death sentence in the 2004 Chittagong arms haul cases.
