Fakhrul, Rizvi among 16 sued for arson attack on bus

A case was filed against 16 opposition leaders and some unidentified people with Shahbagh Police Station here on Friday in connection with Thursday’s arson attack on a bus that left a youth dead and 16 people injured.

 

Sub-inspector Sohel Rana of Shahbagh police station filed the case.

 

The 16 opposition leaders include BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam, joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Sadeq Hossain Khoka , Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Mirza Abbas, Amanullah Aman, Barkatullah Bulu, Abdus Salam , Salahuddin, JCD president Jewel Rana, Saiful Alam Nirob, Shibir president Dr Masud.

 

Their names have mentioned in the case as ‘instigators’, police said.

 

A youth was killed and 16 people, including a female journalist and her mother, suffered burn injuries as a bus was set ablaze in the city’s Shahbagh area on Thursday evening during the 71-hour rail-road-waterway blockade enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance.
