Fakhrul at BSMMU for regular health check up

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir

Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University from Kashimpur Jail for regular health check up.

Fakhrul left Kashimpur Jail facility-2 around 8:00am and reached BSMMU around 10:15am our correspondent reports.
Jailer Nasir Ahmed said: ‘Fakhrul has been suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and heart complications so we sent him to hospital for a regular check-up.’
If doctors there think that he (Fakhrul) should be admitted then the hospital would admit him, he said.
The BNP leader was sent to jail—though not convicted yet— in a case filed in connection with an arson attack in the capital’s Paltan on January 5.
Mirza Fakhrul was taken BSMMU 2 days after another BNP leader Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu died in Rajshahi central jail.
Pintu was brought dead to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital from the central jail in the north-western city while doctors declared him dead around 12:20pm.
Later on Monday jail authorities formed a three-member probe panel, led by DIG (prisons) of Dhaka division Golam Haider, to look into the death of Pintu.
A medical board has been formed to look into his health condition.
