Popular social networking site Facebook has recognised the official Facebook page of the ruling Bangladesh Awami League.
As a part of its verification process, a Facebook verification sign, a ‘blue tick mark’, appeared next to the page name on Tuesday.
Till Tuesday afternoon, more than 116,000 fans liked the official Facebook page of the ruling party which has promised to build a “digital Bangladesh” by 2021.
Bangladesh Awami League posts its official notifications, different development activities and press releases on the page.
Last year, Facebook had verified Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s fan page.
Facebook’s Verified Pages are designed for public bodies with authentic accounts.
