Mushfiqur Rahim made highest 67 runs as Bangladesh posted 277-6 in the third and final one-day international against England in the third and final one-day international in Chittagong on Wednesday.
England reached 140-2 in 27 overs owing to Sam Billings 62 and James Vince 32, with Bangladeshi bowlers toiling to make any breakthrough.
The two wickets that have fallen so far were taken by Nasir Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain.
England leg-spinner Adil Rashid earlier took full advantage of a turning wicket, which remained under cover for two days due to rain, and picked up his career best 4-43 before Mushfiq’s 62-ball innings gave Bangladesh’s innings the respectability.
Mushfiq racked up 85 runs with young Mosaddek Hossian in their unbroken seventh wicket stand taking Bangladesh past 250-run mark.
Rashid put Bangladesh in danger of getting folded for much lower a total with regular strikes in his 10 overs at a stretch after Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes put 80 runs in opening stand.
Ben Stokes earned the first breakthrough for England when he made Imrul (45) a catch of substitute fielder Liam Dawson at square leg.
Local boy Tamim pulled Chris Woakes for a midwicket boundary to complete his 5,000 runs ODIs being the first Bangladeshi.
Rashid deceived him with googley in the next over as James Vince took the catch at short midwicket to remove the left-hander for 45.
Mahmudulla, the top scorer for Bangladesh with 75 in Sunday’s second ODI, hit Rashid for a six but fell to the trap of short ball giving a catch to Jonny Bairstow at short cover.
Sabbir (49) missed his fourth ODI fifty for just one runs, edging Rashid to wicketkeeper Buttler before Moeen Ali brought another lucky breakthrough for England by removing Sakib al Hasan.
Sakib, who made just four, missed the superbly turning delivery and so did Buttler but the ball deflected off his gloves to dislodge the bails with the batsman still out of his crease.
Rashid took his fourth wicket with a full toss delivery that Nasir Hossain tried to clear over the rope only offer Vince his second catch of the evening at midwicket.
Rain had earlier threatened to run the match before it stopped just in time to help the match start without any delay.
England captain Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first as visitors were looking to end Bangladesh’s unbeaten run in six consecutive series after an acrimonious build up to the third ODI.
The three-match ODI series is currently level at 1-1 after England won the first match by 21 runs and Bangladesh levelled with a 34-run win in the second match.
