The BNP has claimed 22 people have died across Bangladesh in violence during the first phase voting for the union council elections.
And it has blamed the Election Commissions for the casualties.

“The commission has done nothing other than issuing statements,” senior party leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told the media on Thursday.
“The election commission is responsible for the deaths. People lost their lives and many more have been injured just because of the EC’s lenient approach ,” said the BNP joint secretary general.
Speaking at the party’s Naya Paltan headquarters, Rizvi questioned the chief election commissioner’s (CEC) ‘sanity.’
“Before the polls, he complained of not getting the administration’s cooperation. He had then said the law enforces would be liable if clashes erupted and now he says it was a free and fair polls. It seems he suffers from mental problems,” Rizvi told the media.
Demanding CEC Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad’s resignation, he said that the commission is now ‘busy saving jobs.’
