Eid in Kashimpur jail for Salauddin Quader, Rony

Apart from them, few former ministers, MPs and other VIP prisoners too are observing Eid in this secured prison. They are Jamaat-e-Islami leaders Motiur Rahman Nizami, Delwar Hossain Sayeedee, Shafiqur Rahman and state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar among others.

All the jails across the country will serve special food for Eid on Friday.

Jailor of the Kashimpur’s Dhaka Central Jail-1 Mohmmad Naser Alam told bdnews24.com that war crimes accused BNP leader Salauddin Quader is lodged in his jail.

Lutfozzaman Babar, Jamaat leaders Nizami, Shafiqur Rahman, AKM Yusuf and Abdus Sobhan are some of the high-profile prisoners lodged in this prison.

Of the 884 prisoners in this jail, 73 have been served with death penalty. War crimes accused, Delwar Hossain Sayeedee, and JMB member Salahuddin Salehi are among them.

Jailor of the Kashimpur’s Dhaka Central Jail-2 Subash Chandra Das said Awami League MP Rony, who was accused of assaulting Independent TV journalists, is lodged in his prison.

Acting editor of the Amar Desh Mahmudur Rahman, businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun and Jamaat leader Mir Quasem Ali are some of the prominent prisoners incarcerated there.

In the Central Jail 2, there are 86 prisoners, including Jamaat leader Mohammad Kamaruzzaman, who has been served with death penalty.

The superintendent of this high-secured jail Mohmmad Abdur Razzak told the bdnews24.com that BNP leader and one of the accused in the BDR Mutiny case Nasiruddin Pintu and Ulfa leaders Anup Chetia and Lakhiprasad are also lodged there.

There are 1,355 inmates in this jail, of them around 500 have been awaiting the gallows.

A total of 219 inmates, including their 12 children, are celebrating Eid in the female ward of the Kashimpur Jail.

There are nine prisoners who have been served with death penalty, informed jailor Amjad Hossain Don.

In all these prisons arrangements have been made for Eid congregations and special food, prison authorities said.
