The Election Commission on Monday has released a list containing the unofficial results of 139 constituencies where the 10th general elections except took place on Sunday.

According to the lists, ruling Awami League secured a total of 104 seats in the parliamentary elections while HM Ershad’s Jatiya Party (JaPa) bagged 13 seats.
Meanwhile, uncontested winner Rashed Khan Menon’s Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) bagged only two seats, Bangladesh Workers Party (WP) got four seats while both Nazmul Huda’s Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) and Bangladesh Tarikat Federation won one seats.
Besides, independent candidates, that included a number of Awami League ‘rebel’ leaders, secured 14 seats. However, Anwar Hossain Manju’s Jatiya Party (JP) did not get any seat as elections in Kurigram 4 suspended.
Although the candidates of Awami League-led 14-party alliance have contested in the polls with their party symbols, some of the participated with the symbol of boat, the symbol of ruling party.
This time, a total of 153 candidates have been elected uncontested amid the boycott of the main opposition BNP. Elections held in 147 constituencies. But, the EC suspended polling in eight seats.
The seats are Dinajpur 4, Kurigram 4, Bogra 7, Gaibandha 1, 3, 4, Jessore 5 and Lakshmipur 1. Repolling on these seats will be held on January 16.
