Diplomatic Courier and Ambassador Siddique Address America’s Pivot Dilemma

Washington, D.C.:In the days before U.S. President Barack Obama’s second inauguration, the Diplomatic Courier is pleased to feature “On Day One: America’s Pivot Dilemma,”in Volume 7, Issue 1 of the magazine by Ambassador M. Osman Siddique, American politician and former United States Ambassador to the Republic of Fiji and to the Republic of Nauru, to the Kingdom of Tonga and to Tuvalu.

“If the anti-Muslim biases attributed to the U.S. can be erased, the second Obama Administration will be in the enviable position to not only deepen our alliances with Muslim nations in both the Middle East and Asia, but also play a valuable catalytic role in helping both regions advance the practice of democratic values and religious tolerance.  A zero-sum pivot away from the Middle East towards Asia is a fanciful and counterproductive proposition,” an excerpt from Siddique’s article.

“Ambassador Siddique challenges the United States to answer serious questions about our relationship with the Arab world, while supporting peace and justice in the Israel-Palestinian conflict. With his extensive experience advising on delicate foreign policy matters, Siddique reflects on how Islamism in Mackinder’s heartland and Middle East will affect East and Southeast Asia,” said Ana C. Rold, Editor-in-Chief, Diplomatic Courier.

The January/February edition of the Diplomatic Courier also includes articles on:

In addition to the other articles, this edition publishes “Predicting 2013: Opportunities and Threats,” a joint Wikistrat-Diplomatic Courier SpeedSim compiled by Frida Ghitis, Senior Analyst at Wikistrat and Editorial Contributor, Miami Herald.
