On 29 February, the final of the first edition of the Bangladesh Premier league (BPL) was held at the Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. Star studded Dhaka Gladiators saved their best for this all-important encounter of the BPL T20 by becoming its inaugural champions. The franchise of the country’s second largest division took just 15.3 overs to overhaul the Barisal Burners in a rather easy seven-wicket win. The proud owner of the Gladiators and the Media Manager of the team invited Bangladesh Chronicle for an exclusive photo session at the Ruposhi Bangla Hotel. BD Chronicle’s reporter Nazmus Saquib greeted the members of the winning team as they arrived at the Hotel with the cup of glory. Shahid Afridi — the hugely popular Pakistani recruit of the Gladiators while talking to us said, “Bangladesh is just like my second home. Whenever I play here, the spectators just go crazy. I would love to pay back their love by playing here over and over again.”
Minhaz Uddin Khan, the media manager of the Gladiators in his instant reaction said, “We were optimistic about this victory. We are extremely happy to be able to win the inaugural edition of BPL. We would love to keep this winning trend in the future editions as well.”
We wish Dhaka Gladiators all the best for their upcoming mission. Go Dhaka Go!
