Madrasa student Mohammad Soheil, who was ‘shot dead’ during the eviction drive at Motijheel’s Shapla Chattar on May 5, has been found alive and well.
Soheil is a student of Ujani Madrasa at Kochua of Chandpur.
Local journalists went into the madrasa on Wednesday only to find him in class along with other students.
Bengali Daily Inqilab cited their district correspondent to publish the news of Soheil’s death on May 11.
Chadpur’s local newspaper Daily Ilsheypar also published the story for the madrasa student’s death the day before.
Inqilab’s report said a student of Kochua’s Ujani madrasa has been killed in the pre-dawn pincer operation by RAB and police on May 5.
This supporter of Hifazat-e Islam was called Soheil, 23 from Comilla’s Daudkanti.
Ujani Madrasa student Soheil is the son of Aziz Miah. He is from Dokkhin Nordi village of Daudkandi’s Goalmari Union.
However, local correspondents Mohammad Rakibul Hasan for the Daily Bhorer Kagoz and Chandpur Probaho’s Mohammad Mohiuddin were able to speak to the so-called slain madrasa student on Sunday.
He said he did not take part in the Hifazat’s programmes on May 5. He was in Ujani Madrasa on that day.
Soheil said the news of his death were obviously just rumours.
Maulana Abdur Rahman who teaches at the religious school told reporters about the five students named Soheil in the madrasa. They are all in classes.
He confirmed that none of their students were killed in Dhaka May 5 and said the reports of Soheil’s death were baseless.
