Daily mobile recharge capped at Tk 500

Prepaid mobile phone users can now recharge a maximum amount of Tk 500 a day in their mobile accounts.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission sent a letter to the country’s all mobile phone operators on Tuesday in this regard.
‘A letter has been sent to all mobile phone operators. They’ve been asked to implement the directive as soon as possible,’ BTRC Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood said.
According to BTRC data, there are 13.31 crore mobile phone subscribers in the country with majority of them using prepaid SIMs, reports United News of Bangladesh.
Besides, some 5.15 crore people are currently using the internet over mobile phone.
Contacted, secretary general of Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh TI Nurul Kabir said the prepaid customers will face problem following the BTRC directive.
He said many subscribers avail themselves of internet packages of over Tk 500. ‘So, they may need to recharge over Tk 500 in one day. They’ll face problem if the BTRC directive is implemented.’
The AMTOB secretary general also urged the BTRC to reconsider the decision.
