A court here on Thursday issued an arrest warrant against Hefajat-e Islam nayeb-e-ameer Mufti Izharul Islam Chowdhury in a case filed in connection with a blast at a madrasa here in October 2013.
Metropolitan Sessions judge SM Majibur Rahman passed the order as he did not appear before the court despite expiry of his bail period.
The court also fixed April 6 for framing charges against 9 accused of the case, including Mufti Izharul and his son Harun Izhar.
Court sources said earlier Mufti Izharul secured eight-week High Court bail in the case but he did not appear before the court even after the submission of the charge-sheet.
Three people were killed in an explosion in a room of Jamiatul Ulum Islami Madrasa at Lalkhan Bazar in the city on October 7.
On October 8, two cases were filed against 12 people, including Mufti Izharul and Harun Izhar.
Izharul was the founder and principal of the madrasa.
