Opposition chief whip Zainul Abedin Farroque on Thursday said the ongoing political crisis over the polls-time government can be solved by only amending the constitution.
“It’s possible to overcome the current political crisis by only bringing a fresh amendment to the charter,” he told a discussion.
Bangladesh Jatiya Party arranged the discussion, titled ‘Citizen’s thoughts on resolving the ongoing national crisis’ at the Jatiya Press Club.
Pointing at the Prime Ministers Farroque said, “As you’ve created the crisis by amending the constitution within a few minutes now you must solve it by amending it again.”
Zainul also threatened that they will not allow the government to hold a one-sided election keeping BNP out of the race, no matter how many evil designs the regime resort to.
About the opposition’s parliament boycott, he said, “The Jatiya Sangsad has now turned into a one-party assembly. So, we don’t join Parliament session.”
Mentioning that they want to return to the House, the opposition chief whip said if the government places a bill in parliament for restoration of the non-party caretaker government, they will join the session to vote in favour of the bill.
He claimed that the current government during its tenure has given over 12,000 arms licenses and said a fair election is not possible under it.
