BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s youngest son Arafat Rahman Coco will be buried at the military graveyard at Banani after the Namaz-e-Janaza on Tuesday afternoon.
The body is supposed to arrive in Dhaka in the morning.
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said in a statement that the Janaza will be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the afternoon.
He will be then buried at the military graveyard in the capital’s Banani.
The party’s Malaysia unit chief Mahbub Alam Shah had told bdnews24.com on Sunday that the Malaysia Airlines flight carrying the body is scheduled to take off at 5:30am Tuesday local time.
The BNP had earlier informed the media that the Janaza would be held in front of its headquarters at Naya Paltan.
Rizvi called on party leaders and activists to take part in the funeral prayers. The party has been observing a three-day mourning since Monday.
Coco died on Saturday in Malaysia while being taken to a hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
The 45-year-old was sentenced by a lower court to a six-year prison term in 2011 for smuggling money out of the country.
According to BNP leaders, Coco’s body will be taken to Khaleda’s Gulshan office from the airport.
It will be kept there for three hours so that people can pay respects before being taken to the Baitul Mukarram for the Janaza.
