Ceat Cricket Ratings Award 2014 Inform Shakib adjudged best T20 all-rounder

He credited Uthappa’s consistency, Narine’s brilliance and the contributions of the support staffs behind KKR’s success

Bangladesh’s star cricketer Shakib al Hasan received the ‘Best T20 all-rounder’ award at the prestigious Ceat Cricket Ratings Award 2014 after his brilliant performance for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL this season. The award giving ceremony was hosted by former Pakistani batsman Rameez Raza in Mumbai yesterday.

“We had ups and downs throughout the tournament,” said Shakib. He credited Uthappa’s consistency, Narine’s brilliance and the contributions of the support staffs behind KKR’s success.

The star all-rounder was instrumental in Kolkata Knight Riders’ title winning IPL campaign this season with both bat and ball. His economical bowling this season helped his side in most of the matches as the left-arm spinner’s 11 wickets in 13 matches at an economy rate of 6.68 saw him become one of the most economical bowlers of the tournament.

However, the left hander shined equally with the bat also as he recorded his highest IPL score of 60 runs this season on his way to amassing 227 runs from 13 matches with an enviable average and brilliant strike rate of 32 and 149 respectively.

KKR’s another star batsman Robin Utthappa, who was in terrific form with bat this season, was awarded the Indian Domestic Cricketer of the year while another opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan was named the ODI player of the year. The young Indian cricketer of the year award went to Vijay Zol.
