Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury read out the president’s order in the House on Thursday, bringing Parliament’s budget session to an end.
In her closing speech, the speaker said the ruling party, the opposition and independent members had engaged in significant discussions on the budget.
“Their valuable opinion will enrich the budget and make significant contributions to development,” she said.
She thanked the MPs for their attendance over the past five days and offered early Eid greetings to the nation.
The budget session began on June 3.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith proposed a Tk 2.5 trillion budget on June 5. The MPs held discussions on the proposal for around 63 hours.
The budget was passed on June 29.
Jatiya Party, the opposition in Parliament which also happens to be a ruling ally, took part in budget discussion. They criticised the government for what it felt was a prevailing disorder in the financial sector.
Opposition leader Raushon Ershad was more vocal on the formalin poisoning issue.
Opposition members criticised the finance, public administration and home ministries over a proposal to cut jobs. They also talked about deterioration of law and order.
