The manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers and retailers of these products were ordered to stop trading before the respective companies acquire fresh licences

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Monday banned sale, distribution, and storing of 15 products of 13 companies and revoked their licences.

The standard regulators also prohibited advertising these products, said a BSTI statement.

The decision came after the BSTI surveillance team examined samples of the products collected from markets, it said.

The manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers and retailers of these products were ordered to stop trading before the respective companies acquire fresh licences, it added.

According to the statement, the banned products include iodized salt brands produced by Bismillah Salt Factory, Janata Salt Mill and Ifad Salt and Chemical Ltd.

Vermicelli (laccha semai) products of Raven Company Limited and JK Food Products Ltd are also on the list of banned products, along with fortified soybean oil brands of Shakti Edible Ltd and Kichena AK Khan Food and Beverage Ltd.

Skin creams of GM Chemical Works and Modern Cosmetics and Herbal Industries Ltd are also on the list, along with clarified butter made by Akij Food and Beverage Ltd and New Chattala Ltd, and turmeric powder of Premi Agro Food Ltd.
