British Council has temporarily shut down its offices in Bangladesh in order to recheck their security aspects, the organisation announced that on Wednesday (July 27) .

On its website it says, “Our offices are temporarily closed to review security procedures.”

The international organization hopes to reopen its office and continue it’s work after new security measures come in force.

“Customer Services will be responding to queries through email, Live Chat and Facebook in the usual office hours. We regret any inconvenience caused,” it said.

Meanwhile, Barbara Wickham, Director of British Council Bangladesh said in a press release, “We recognise that people in Bangladesh are increasingly concerned about safety and security in public places. The safety and security of our staff and customers is always our top priority.”

“Therefore we have taken the decision to temporarily close our offices in order to review our security practices,” she went on to add.
