BNP now diplomat-dependent party: Obaidul

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said BNP has now become a diplomat-dependent party after failing to make its illogical movement a success.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters during his visit to Bypile-Abdullahpur road in Ashulia.

Obaidul said diplomats working in Bangladesh would have not gone to BNP chairperson so frequently if she does not want.

About Thursday’s debate in the British House of Commons on the situation in Bangladesh, he said foreign friends have the rights to offer suggestion about internal affairs of Bangladesh. “However, the government won’t bow down to any foreign pressure. Instead, it will bow down to the country’s reality and the demands and expectations of its people.”

The minister, however, said the government is not turning down all the suggestions of the foreign friends. “The government will accept some of them.”

Turning to BNP’s claim that the present regime is illegal, he said although the party is calling the government illegal, it wants to sit with that government to go to power. “This proves that the government is not illegal.”

About the suggestion of the British House of Commons to ban Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from the politics, he said the matter is presently under sub judice. “So, the government doesn’t want to interfere in it.”
