BNP leader Shamsher Mobin held

Plainclothes police picked up BNP vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury in front of party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan residence on Monday evening.

Witnesses said a team of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police asked the BNP leader to get onto their vehicle as soon as he came out of Khaleda’s residence around 7:35pm after British High Commissioner Robert Gibson’s meeting with the opposition leader.

Contacted, Shamsher Mobin told UNB: “Now I’m in a police vehicle. I don’t know where they are taking me to.”

Later, he was taken to the DB head office at Minto Road. He might be produced before court on Tuesday after showing arrested.

Before the British High Commissioner’s arrival, Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury and Khaleda’s two advisers Riaz Rahman and Sabihuddin Ahmed were allowed to enter Khaleda’s house.
