The court of Dhaka’s Senior Special Judge Jahurul Haque framed charges against the former Dhaka city mayor and set Nov 16for the next hearing.
Khoka was absent during the charge framing in the court on Thursday, as he is now in the US for treatment.
After his counsel informed the matter, the court ordered to continue the trial proceedings in absentia.
No arrest warrant was issued for the BNP leader.
The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case in 2008 accusing Khoka of concealing information about wealth worth Tk 96.5 million.
It had submitted the chargesheet on Jul 1, 2008.
“The case was stuck for quite a long time in the High Court. The Appellate Division’s ruling barred issuing arrest warrants during the trial proceedings. That’s why the court did not issue one despite framing charge in his absence,” ACC lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal told bdnews24.com.
