BNP leader Hafizuddin on 2-day remand

 

A court here on Monday placed BNP Vice-Chairman Major (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed on a two-day remand in connection with arson attack in the city on December 24 that left a man dead.

 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Harunur Rashid Khan passed the order when  Mohammad Ali Hossain, a sub-inspector of Ramna Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court seeking a seven-day remand for interrogation.

 

Police arrested BNP leader Hafizuddin Ahmed from in front of the National Press Club in the city on Sunday evening.

 

A police constable named Ferdous Khalil was killed and two others were injured when two miscreants riding on a motorcycle hurled a petrol bomb on a police vehicle in city’s Bangla Motor area on December 24. A case was filed in this connection and Hafizudin was shown arrested in the case.
