Fakhrul said the world needs to know about the government’s autocracy and Khaleda’s unjust captivity

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the party is set to go seek for international support to manage Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release, and health related issues.

He made this statement at a press conference, following a standing committee meeting, at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office on Saturday.

“We will inform and take help from the democratic countries of the world about Khaleda’s release, and health issues,” he said.

The BNP leader said the world needs to know about the government’s autocracy, and Khaleda’s unjust captivity.

He continued that Khaleda’s bail was supposed to get approved by the High Court before Eid, however, its unusual delay proves that the judiciary was being manipulated.

As a result, Khaleda’s release procedure hit a bump, which slowed down further activities of the party.

Fakhrul said: “The government did not allow us to do any divisional activities in August, however, we would resume all kinds of programs from September 1, as it’s the founding anniversary of BNP.”

The party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman also attended the meeting through Skype.

Later, Fakhrul pointed out the government’s failure to tackle dengue.

He said: “Dengue will get worse in September but the government is yet to bring its remedies.”

The BNP leader also said, the domestic leather industry is being destroyed by the government’s selfish motives, and indifference.

Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Zamiruddin Sirkar, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, among others, were also present.
