BNP hits back at AL leader Sheikh Selim

It demands his removal from AL in 24 hrs

BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Monday criticised Awami League presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim for calling opposition activists anarchists and threatening  to cut their limbs, and demanded his removal from the ruling party within 48 hours.

“How come an MP (Selim) can say to chop down the hands and legs of opposition leaders and activists…Sheikh Hasina should expel him from the party within 48 hours if she has any political wisdom,” he said.

Gayeshwar made the remarks while addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club organised by Jatiyatabadi Samyabadi Dal.

Earlier on Monday, addressing a function Selim, said, “Those who will carry out subversive activities in the name of movement their hands and legs will be chopped down. Now we’re a better organised. It’s not possible to topple us,” he said.

Disapproving the AL leader’s remarks, Gayeshwar said Selim with his remarks has proved that he has no quality to be a member of parliament.

Issuing a counter threat, the BNP leader also said they will give Selim a befitting reply at the appropriate time.

Gayeshwar alleged that the government has snatched people’s basic and democratic rights. “The government has forgotten people’s interest to have India’s blessings. We don’t want you to meet the same fate of your father. Restore people’s basic rights.”

He also urged the government to quit with dignity and hold a fresh national election immediately allowing people to elect their representatives.
