BNP condemns attack on Tuba workers

Fakhrul

The BNP has condemned the police attack on the agitating Tuba Group workers alleging that such type of attack on the labourers can be compared only to the age of barbarism.

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the statement in a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

“Police attack on the workers proved that the country has been running by the criminals not by the rule of law,” he said.

The BNP spokesperson said: “When the common people, various political and social organisations raised their voices demanding the dues of Tuba workers, a section of BGMEA leaders patron by the government and Tuba garments authorities remained silent.”

Fakhrul said people of the country firmly believed that if the government patron a section of BGMEA leaders took proper initiative, it is possible to resolve the crisis soon.

The party demanded immediate payment of the workers to resolve the crisis.

Earlier in the day, police broke the hunger strike of Tuba Group workers by forcing them out from the factory. Police used rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannons to disperse the workers.
