BNP has slammed the Election Commission ‘for failing’ to ensure a congenial atmosphere for voting in the Narayanganj city polls.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi claimed that administrative officials, known to be pro-Awami League, have been appointed to handle the Dec 22 elections.
“Only three days are left for the polls and the Election Commission is yet to ensure a proper atmosphere for the people to vote,” he said at the BNP Naya Paltan headquarters.
He claimed receiving reports of ‘ Chhatra League and Juba League activists’ being appointed as presiding and polling officers.
“Not only that, former Chhatra League activists in the security forces have been deployed for the election,” said Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi. “We have also received reports of voters being intimidated.”
