Bloggers of Bangladesh revived revolutionary protest of 1971 #Shahbag

shahbag-2

Blogger and activist community in Bangladesh has brought a spark to the current youth generation, they revived the movement of 1971 to the juveniles and their stand for patriotism. A protest without violence, a protest without interference of political power, a protest by the common man of Bangladesh.

The protest arose when the judiciary of Bangladesh gave their unexpected statements for the war criminals who were accused of murders, rapes and conspiracies of the freedom fighters of Bangladesh during 1971.

It all started with bloggers’ posts and their initiatives when few people gathered near Shahbag Mord to protest against the tribunal’s verdicts. The protesters said the life term was not enough since a tribunal had found Abdul Quader Mollah guilty of five charges, including playing a role in the killing of 381 unarmed civilians.

From few bloggers to half million people gathering within 3 days all chanting only one thing in the rhythm of unity ” Fashi Chai (Hang till death)”… This is one of the biggest demonstrations held by the people of Bangladesh. And one of my favorite slogan by them “Toi Rajakar Toi Rajakar Toi Rajakar”.

Streets are filled with 1971 fighters, students, political activists, teachers and people from other walks of life. From local to international media are thrilled with the kind of demonstration carried out by the youths.

People from across the world are joining this protest in their respectful ways, I have gathered some of the images:
