Bhola gets household gas connection

Local MP Tofail Ahmed, also ruling Awami League advisory council member, attends an inaugural function of gas supply for households in Bhola on Wednesday.

At long last, the dream comes true for the people of Bhola, who had been waiting for almost two decades, with gas supply provided for household use from Wednesday.

Petrobangla chairman Dr Hossain Mansur formally inaugurated the gas supply by lighting a burner at Khanka Sharif of Jainpuri Pir Saheb at Jugirghol in the district town.

Local MP Tofail Ahmed, also ruling Awami League advisory council member, attended the inaugural function as the chief guest.

Marking the occasion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through cell phone told the local people that Awami League has fulfilled its electoral pledge through providing gas connection to Bhola.

Speaking on the occasion, Tofail, on behalf of the local people, thanked the prime minister and hoped that the southern district would turn into an industrially-developed area in the near future by utilising the gas.

The Petrobangla chairman said that so far, 20 kilometres of gas distribution line have already been set up in Bhola municipal area while another 50 km of gas distribution line will be established.
