B’desh now an attraction for foreign airlines: Faruk

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Faruk Khan on Sunday said Bangladesh has become a centre of attraction for foreign airlines due to Bangladesh’s strategic position.

 

“If proper planning is taken, Bangladesh can be turned into a centre of air route. We need to ensure infrastructure development and international standard,” he said.

 

The minister was addressing a function at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the city which was arranged to launch the operation of Malaysian airline Malindo Air. Malindo Air Chief Executive Chandran Rama Muthy was also present, said a PID handout.

 

Faruk Khan said the government has taken initiatives to modernise Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport considering the gradual increase in demand, and initiative have also been taken for constructing the second runway,

 

About Cox’s Bazar Airport, he said the flow of tourists to Cox’s Bazar will increase significantly once the work on turning the airport into an international standard one is completed.
