Bangledesh faculty fellowship and recipient announced

GhaniMOsman

The Institute for International Business is spearheading a new fellowship created between the Kelley School of Business and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh.

The Herman B Wells-M.O. Ghani Faculty Fellowship, signed into agreement in March 2012, is named in honor of the deceased former IU president and chancellor Herman B Wells and the late M. Osman Ghani, president emeritus of the University of Dhaka. Wells’ and Ghani’s collaboration that began during Wells’ presidency helped spur the creation of the IBA.

The fellowship is a gift from Ghani’s son, M.O. Yousuf, a 1976 graduate of the Kelley MBA program. It will allow a professor from the IBA to spend three weeks, each fall semester, in residence at Kelley.

While here, they will interact and learn from Kelley faculty, audit undergraduate and graduate classes, and guest lecture, among other learning opportunities. When they return to Bangladesh, they will lead a faculty seminar for business schools in Bangladesh to share the knowledge they learned while here.

The first recipient of the fellowship is Golam Mohammed Chowdhury, a professor at and the former director of the IBA. He has over 26 years of teaching and consulting experience in marketing, strategic management and organizational development. He will visit in the fall of 2013.
