Housing and Public Works Minister Mosharraf Hossain on Wednesday said no new commercial or private buildings in Dhaka city will get approval without having Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the cabinet committee on Detailed Area Plan (DAP), the minister told reporters at the Secretariat.
He said an instruction in this regard was given to Rajuk (Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha). “It (Rajuk) will publish a notice in the media over the decision.”
“People only install septic tanks in their buildings which can’t stop the emission of odur. Now, it must be ensured during approval of house building plan that ETP would be installed,” he said.
“Rajuk officials will visit building sites before approving plans to ensure ETP installation,” the minister said.
Land Minister Shamsur Rahman, Water Resources Minister Anisul Huq and senior officials concerned were, among others, present at the meeting.
