The Awami League was not allowed to hold any programme at Bangabandhu Museum in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area on Thursday marking the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s death anniversary.

Students of different universities, colleges and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party took position in the adjacent areas of Bangabandhu Bhaban, the residence of Sheikh Mujib.

Students were checking people coming towards Bangabandhu Musuem and some AL men were confined at New Model Degree College.

They were seen announcing through sound system that they took position in the area to prevent AL ‘miscreants’.

Tahmid Hasan Nihad, a student of Southeast University, said that they took position in the area to prevent AL’s ‘counter revolution’ centering the day.

‘We urge the AL men not to come here. We are ready to resist them under the banner of Student Movement Against Discrimination and general people have also joined us,’ he added.
