AL brings out colourful Victory Day procession

The ruling Awami League brought out a colourful procession in the capital on Wednesday celebrating marking the Victory Day with a vow to complete the trial of war crimes.
Leaders and activists of the ruling Awami League and its associate bodies joined the procession in the afternoon.
The procession was brought out from in front Institution of Engineers Bangladesh at Suhrawardy Udyan. It marched through different streets including Shabagh, Elephant road, the Science Laboratory and Kalabagan before ending at Bangabandhu Bhaban premises at Dhanmondi-32.
Coming from different parts of the capital and its outskirts, the party leaders and activists from different age groups joined the procession either on foot or on different vehicles carrying the national flag, colourful placards and banners.
They were seen chanting slogans thanking the government for executing war criminals.
The traffic got stuck on different roads including Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Topkhana Road, Circular Road, Outer Circular Road, Mirpur Road and Elephant Road for hours in the afternoon as the party activists with small procession started thronging at the Suhrawardy Udyan from 1:00pm.
Addressing a pre-procession rally in front of the IEB, Awami League presidium member Matia Chowdhury said that it was prime minister Sheikh Hasina who made it possible to hold the trial of war criminals and execute the verdicts.
Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Dhaka city Awami League acting general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, among others, addressed the rally.
