The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved 8 new projects including the ‘Procurement of 200 MG passenger coaches for Bangladesh Railway’ project with Tk 927.52 crore, aiming to provide modern, safe and improved services to the commuters.
The 9th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal year was held at the NEC conference room in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area with ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that a total of eight projects were approved on Tuesday with an estimated cost of Tk 3,488.20 crore.
“Tk 1,440.35 crore of the total cost will come from the state exchequer, Tk 20.14 crore from the organization’s own fund while the rest of Tk 2,027.71 crore as project assistance,” Kamal said.
Five of the projects are new while three are revised ones.
