Bangladesh’s telecom regulator today scrapped licenses of 33 internet service providers after they failed to pay for their license renewal in time.
They were operating without valid licenses, a notice issued in by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) said.
The regulatory body directed the internet service providers to pay their dues in 10 days or be punished under the Telecommunication Act 2001. These licenses were issued between April 2008 and January 2010.
“It is a clear violation of the law,” the notice said. The notice, including names of the internet service providers is given below.
Earlier on June 29, BTRC warned 17 VSAT licence holders, including some foreign embassies in Dhaka, for not renewing their licenses in time.
